From Bannockburn to Flodden: Wallace, Bruce, & the Heroes of Medieval Scotland
Published in Paperback by Cumberland House (February, 2001)
Authors: Walter, Sir Scott and George Grant
Average review score:

History made pleasant to all ages
Although I am a Spanish speaking reader, I found this book most lovely and interesting from the first page. It is written in a clear style that makes it easy to understand and attractive to read. Writing History is a hard task, not suitable for everybody. Sir Walter Scott is certainly one of the greatest British poets and here he combines all his virtues in this matter with a great skill to narrate past events which almost turns this book into a "Romantic History" . It is wonderfuly adecquate for kids as it was originally intended even to those learning English as a second language.

From Battlefield to Bottom Line: The Leadership Lessons of Ulysses S. Grant
Published in Paperback by Presidio Pr (December, 1995)
Author: Bil, Phd Holton
Average review score:

Useful leadership lessons.
Ulysses S. Grant's overwhelming manpower advantage and material superiority have given him the reputation of a blunt instrument, bludgeoning the South into submission.
While there is enough truth in this view to keep it alive, it overlooks Grant's uncommon common sense, leadership skills, and, finally, the hardearned respect of men who had scorned him.
The present work is a companion to Holton's "From Battlefield to Boardroom", a study of Robert E. Lee's leadership which is also highly recommended.

Fund Raising Fundamentals: A Guide to Annual Giving for Professionals and Volunteers
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (15 March, 2002)
Author: James M. Greenfield
Average review score:

An invalauable resource
Fundraising Fundamentals by James Greenfield has been around for some time, and I have used it as a trusted resource time and again. This new edition is even better than the first. There are new sections covering telephone/telemarketing sklls, corporate solicitation, and the internet (this is particularly useful). There are also plenty of case studies and examples to help readers learn to implement the guidance Greenfield provides in their own nonprofit. Whatever your experience/skill level in your nonprofit, this is the one resource you should not do without!

Galatians (IVP New Testament Commentary Series)
Published in Hardcover by Intervarsity Press (July, 1994)
Authors: G. Walter Hansen, D. Stuart Briscoe, Haddon Robinson, and Grant R. Osborne
Average review score:

Great
This book is fearless and readable. It takes on some difficult theological issues without being strident. You come away with an appreciation of Paul's ferver in protecting the early church from the effects of racial and national elitism. There is no hesitation in saying that the law is temporal and that the Spirit is the force for a Christian's moral direction. Christians overcome their sin through faith in what God has accomplished through Christ's death, burial, and resurection.
